ANALYSIS OF TASK 4

KEMI AJAYI

For task 4, we had to create a trend pack for Spring/Summer 2018 and this consisited of us creating a trend prediction of our own choice. I really enjoyed this task as it allowed for us to be creative and come up with our own ideas. I also enjoed creating the InDesign document for the trend pack. I found this task the easiest as it did not involve any research or information to be found as it was solely based on our ideas and what we wanted to do.

JESSICA STAINES

I found this task the most challenging in terms of dividing up the group work. It was fairly easy to decide who wanted which parts to research and produce, but we all had to rely on each other before the next person could fully complete their part. For some, they needed the visual side like the mood board and colour palette in order to accurately describe the narrative or summarize the trend overall. My part of the pack to produce was the narrative of the trend. I had a clear image in my mind of the type of lifestyle, characteristics and wider life that a follower of our trend would adhere to, but my concern was that it was not the same as other members of the team. Communication during the time apart was important and could have been done more to ensure cohesion in all of our work. However, as a group we did decide to meet to discuss the task and make sure all of our work runs along a similar vein and communicates the same message.

ELISSA BARBER

For our final task we had to look into a trend that will be embarked on in spring/summer 2018. I enjoyed this task because I felt it gave us more control and responsibility as it required more than just basic researching, however this probably did make it the most difficult. I really liked the topic we chose for this task, healthy lifestyle and minimalism is a style I enjoy already so learning that this trend is growing was quite exciting.

MEGAN McROBERT

I found this task my least enjoyable, I liked the idea we had for the trend, being minimalist sportswear being everyday wear and I liked the task itself but putting it into practice by splitting work up between the group I found quite hard. I found this task hard as we were working quite remotely which I found quite hard to ensure I was doing the right thing with my part. I think that maybe, looking back on it, this task may have been better with more group discussion and working together to create the pack as I felt slightly lost in what was going on in each others parts. But overall I think we managed to come up with a really good idea and it all went together cohesively.

KATHRYN SPARKS

Although the task was fairly easy to split up like the previous tasks, it was harder to make sure that everyone’s pages all read the same and we weren’t saying different things. However we put all our pages together at the end using InDesign so that they followed the same layout and style. I feel that my lack of knowledge of InDesign meant that I couldn’t be as involved and without the knowledge of this software from the others in the group this task could have been very hard. I feel that I would of learnt more from this task if it was individual. However I am happy with what we produced and the groups effort.
